Why do nations go to war?
There are lots of reasons nations go to war. These include wealth (money), power (making others recognize how strong they are), to gain land, to aid others (allies), to keep land, fighting for religion and freedom (peace). For example, in the Vietnam war, USA and Australia helped south Vietnam against north Vietnam. The north Vietnamese army was supported by the Viet Cong, they were ultimately stronger because of there guerrilla war tactics.

When North Vietnam started to invade the South, Australia feared that there were potential for the invasion to move onto Australian land. The US also called onto Australia to provide support against the North. All these reasons pushed Australia into sending troops into Vietnam, thus helping allies and stabilizing Vietnam.
